Sarah Sunshine
Since her very first music festival in 2003, Sarah Sunshine had watched hoop dancers from afar, marveling at their grace and beauty but never having the confidence to try it herself. Seven years later in May of 2009, she finally picked up the hoop at Strangecreek Music Festival and she never looked back. Upon her return to Boston, Sarah was delighted to discover the existence of the Boston Hoop Troop, began taking classes with Marria Grace, and her life was forever transformed by the power of the circle.
Sarah feels blessed to be part of the music festival hooping community, which has given her the confidence to become a strong performer and teacher. She has recently performed at a number of festivals, nightclubs, conferences, and camps. Hooping also introduced Sarah to her love of fire dancing. She is currently skilled with fire hoop, poi, flow wand and fire eating & fleshing; she is working towards fluency with fire fans and staff. Sarah also vends hoops through her personal hoop-making business, Sun Circles, which has had the opportunity to provide hoops for customers from California to Thailand.
When she’s not at festivals, concerts or hooping around Boston, Sarah spends most of her time volunteering for a local animal rescue program in Somerville, Pets in Need. She is very excited to be a part of the Boston Hoop Troop and is thankful for the opportunity to spread hoop love all over the city!
