Audition Information and Registration

Thanks for you interest in auditioning for the Boston Hoop Troop! We are excited to be looking for new members!

Date: February 10th 2019
Time: 12pm-3pm
Location: The Dance Complex Studio 1, 536 Mass Ave. Cambridge

*Application to register closes February 8th at Midnight EST.*

Who We are Looking For:

• 2-4 new members
• Proficient with one hoop or more
• Interest in collaboration and growth as a group and individuals
• Commitment to weekly rehearsal
• Interest in teaching, performing, and group activities
• ​Interest in building and expanding personal teaching and performance skills
• Interest and enthusiasm for hooping with all ages youth-senior
• Participation in both community and paid gigs
• Flexible schedules to participate in daytime, evening, and weekend events​
• Participation in group social media, website

What We Are Not Looking For:

• Hoopers that are already running their own or a part of another hoop company​

What Will Auditions Be like?

• Auditions will be live, no video auditions will be accepted
• A supportive fun environment for all 
• Auditions will have 4 parts:
  • General warm up and skill check (lead by current BHT members)
  • Short choreography section (taught and lead by current BHT members)
  • Individuals teach a simple move (prospective new members should come prepared with this)
  • Short Solo Performance (1 minute - prospective new members should come prepared for this)

*A note to all: While at this time we are only looking for 2-4 official new members, even if not chosen to be an official member, those that audition can choose to join our Community Hooper email list - we often will reach out to this list when we need additional hoopers to staff events and it is a great way for us to get to know you and your skills better. Many members from the community list have become official members*
