Patricia Bunny
I was the undefeated champion of the hula hoop through grade school, so years later when I saw people hooping in my local San Francisco park, I ran over to join them. The hoops were bigger and the people were doing all sorts of TRICKS. “I can do that!”
They were Philo and Vera, the originators and creators of “Bay Area Hoopers” which went on to become Hooping.org Magazine. They invited me to join them and the crew started organizing on Tribe.net. How neat to feel like a member of the coolest new club!
The next thing you know I was invited to teach a beginner’s class at my yoga studio. (Hooping is the most fun workout ever – it really does make you feel like a kid again.)
And then one day there was a new guy in the park, J. Punk, but he was all the way from the East Coast. So I moved to Boston and started learning the East Coast style of hooping. Since being in Boston, I’ve led the charge to keep folks hooping in Cambridge Common, staying true to my first memories of hooping in San Francisco. And now I’m the one sharing some TRICKS. :)
